Notes and Announcements

071214 - I've posted questions for lectures 11, 13, 14, 17, and 18. These are extra credit - good scores on these problems will replace low scores on other problems or the midterm. Also, please be sure to fill out the two peer reviews on the Blackboard site. All of this is due by Friday, 12/21.

071130 - Just to have everything in one convenient location (and because some people at NASA are interesting in participating) I've gone through the lecture notes and pulled together everything relevant to the project into one file. [PDF; 210 Kb, 18 pgs.] Please pay special attention to pages 5-7 - they document what I asked you (on the second day of class) to include in the two reviews for next week.

071129 - Here are the real-time comments from the Initial Concept Review by myself [PDF; 32 Kb] and Brian Roberts from GSFC [PDF; 76 Kb].

071030 - Solutions have been posted for everything except #2 and #8, which will be coming shortly. To give you an idea of what sorts of things you might see in the midterm, I've posted last year's midterm exam and solutions.

071021 - I have uploaded new versions of the lectures #08 and #13, with the corrections for the corrections for the errors in the soil thrust fraction (note that the factor multiplying the inner exponential should be K/l, not K/sl). This was a typo on my part, and I apologize for adding another level of confusion on an already confused analysis. As I said in class, any honest effort to answer question #8 will receive full credit.

071015 - Corrections for the errors in the terramechanics lecture have been incorporated into the current version of those lecture notes, as well as in the Lecture 13 notes. Team assignments and requirements for the project design over the rest of this term are also in the notes for Lecture 13. The midterm has been moved back to Thursday, 10/25. If you haven't turned in problems 8 and 9 yet, please do it ASAP and no later than class on Thursday.

071005 - Problems for lectures 8 and 9 are posted now; problems for 10 and 11 will be up shortly. Also, I forgot to mention in class that extra credit on the Initial Concept Review will be awarded to teams with good suggestions for the rover program name.
